Decorating Your Bathroom Online

When it comes to decorating, many people forget to think about their bathroom.  They’ll spend hours looking at different swatches of carpets and wall colours, but when it’s all done and over with, they will realize their bathroom has no décor of its own.  But what goes into a bathroom décor anyway?

The first thing to consider is colour.  Bathrooms generally lack colour, or if they do, it’s a bit of a mismatched mess.  You have your shower curtain, your toilet seat, and your towels and rugs.  These are your primary colour items—you can also have some colour in your tiles or walls, but it seems like almost every bathroom in the world has some sort of neutral beige or white tile floor and white walls.  Adding colourful wallpaper is an option, as is painting, so keep that in mind.

If you have a full bathroom, you can all a lot of colour and personality to it by selecting an interesting shower curtain.  If you’re going for a simple look, you can buy a shower curtain that’s one solid colour.  However, if you want to add some pizzazz to the bathroom, you can go with one that has a wild pattern to it or one that features images of animals, fish, a lighthouse, etc.  In fact, if you’re doing a theme such as the ocean, you might want a shower curtain with a large beach image or with seashells on it.

Your bathmat and other small rugs can easily be coordinated with the shower curtain’s colour, as can your toilet seat cover or actual toilet seat.  The hardest thing to coordinate, though, is your towels.  This is because you probably have a good number of them, and many may not work with the décor, especially older towels.  However, by slowly replacing these towels or only using them sparingly, you can keep your bathroom décor intact.
